Jim has a long and involved musical history reaching beyond the confines of Britain. As a teenager he had a great start learning the bass with Chucho Merchin. He played around East Anglia with bands such as "The Kick", "The Blind Lemons" and "The Ministry" before emigrating to Portugal to seek his fortune as the bassist of successful folk band "The Folk Dogs".
He came home to Cambridge in 1996, joining Hedgepig in 1997 after meeting them in prison...
Jim likes to play a mixture of heavy back line riffs and tuneful countermelodies, effectively smoothing the boundary between rock and folk. His favourite folk bands include the "Oysterband" and Rosie Eade, but delving into his record collection reveals, well, a lack of records...
